Company History
Eclipse Mold, Inc., was founded in 1976 by Fred S. Craprotta, Sr., operating as a sub-contractor to larger mold shops with overloaded work schedules. His goal was to do the best job possible for the best price. He wanted to do better than his competition or "overshadow" them, thus the name "Eclipse".
Mr. Craprotta set out to achieve his goals in a small space (10x20) provided by his father-in-law in the back shop area of Paragon Fastener, a company we still buy products from today. Finding his company prospering, Mr. Craprotta soon moved it to a 2400 square foot building in St. Clair Shores, where it was incorporated in 1977.
In 1982 with a roster of ten, the Company moved to its next location on Nova Drive in Mt. Clemens. Eclipse Mold, Inc., "grew up" at this location by organizing manufacturing techniques, advertising, expanding management levels, and diversifying into the injection molding business.
By the fall of 1989, the Company was ready for its most ambitious move; four buildings down and across the street Eclipse Mold, Inc., moved into a newly constructed modern plant, its current headquarters.
In the past several years, Eclipse Mold has opened two new facilities employing 150 people who develop plastic injection molds and custom molded components. Our market niche has always been close tolerance, small to medium size parts from prototype to production. Many of our parts can be found in the world class products of fortune 500 companies. We continually seek out challenges and look forward to helping our customers succeed in their endeavors.
